It seems so long since I’ve written a single world here in my little corner of the internet. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to but rather life has overtaken (in a good way) and it just hasn’t been possible to keep to a schedule.
So, what’s been keeping me so busy…?
Well, we had one of those now or never moments – after talking about living abroad for the last couple of years an opportunity presented itself that was simply too good to turn down.
We moved to San Pedro de Alcantara in Marbella, Spain at the end of February!
We had an inkling just before Christmas that my husband was about to be offered an exciting new job in Marbella but deep down I don’t think we thought it would actually happen. Well, clearly it did. From finding out to moving was less than four weeks.
Less than four weeks.
Looking back it was an epic level of stress – everyone kept saying how excited we must be but to be honest it was a whirlwind of packing, second guessing ourselves and freaking out!
However, we pulled ourselves together, shipped our belongings, rented our house out, rented somewhere in Spain (unseen, though we did manage to get my parents to swing by and check it wasn’t a total disaster – luckily it’s rather lovely!). We packed up our two young daughters, 4 month old puppy and a car crammed with belongings, and drove from York to Marbella – Via the Eurotunnel, Le Mans, Biarritz and Madrid.
I’m sure one day we will have recovered enough from the journey to be able to write about it, and maybe look back and laugh…yeah, maybe not!
I had every intention of blogging about all this before we left England, maybe writing some notes and updating while we were on the road and I certainly intended to blog almost as soon as we arrived…turns out moving abroad is kind of a big deal (yep, really). With two children to settle in, a whole load of paperwork to figure out before we could even get WI-FI, unpacking and basically hanging around on the beach – it’s been a challenge to prioritise.
That isn’t to say I haven’t been doing anything work wise. I do have some (more) exciting news coming up in the next couple of weeks.
I’ll leave you with some pictures from our first few weeks in Spain.
